A Brief Look into Life as an Intern at Jennings Social Media & MarTech

Christina Blanchard, summer 2016 intern, explained that interns are responsible for a wide range of projects and tasks at the full service digital marketing agency. “Jennings Social Media & MarTech interns are responsible for monitoring the online reputation of clients, scheduling social media posts, conducting research on content ideas or new trends in social media and much more.”

These tasks may seem daunting to a young college student; however, working at an agency like Jennings Social Media & MarTech provides the interns with the skills necessary to accomplish these tasks and prepares them for the next challenge ahead. While an internship at Jennings Social Media & MarTech requires a lot of serious work, interns also get to have some fun, too! Blanchard goes on to say that her most memorable moment during the internship was testing the JSMM Facebook Live video. “While it was nerve racking and I had never done anything like it before, I appreciated being able to be the host of the video.”

Jennings Social Media & MarTech utilize a collaborative work environment with the staff so interns can participate on real assignments. Blanchard said, “We had the opportunity to work for real clients and were able to see their communities grow in real time. We were exposed to every part of the industry and got a great feel for how everything works in a digital marketing agency. I definitely felt like this internship prepared me for my future career.”

Blanchard added, “The culture at Jennings Social Media & MarTech is very relaxed and collaborative. We all work together, which helps ideas flow and relationships form. The agency’s office space has no cubicles. Valerie Jennings, CEO of Jennings Social Media & MarTech, and Zach Walters, digital brand manager of Jennings Social Media & MarTech, work and sit next to all of the other people in the office. The employees all freely share ideas and work together. The space is very conducive to collaborating, so it’s a perfect place for interns and other employees to produce great work and showcase creativity,”

Jennings Social Media & MarTech always looks for talented interns, like Blanchard, to help cultivate and grow business. As well as to allow young people to learn valuable things about the digital marketing industry that goes beyond what a classroom can offer. Blanchard said, “It was challenging at times, but you will learn a lot about this industry and earn valuable experience.” Jennings Social Media & MarTech continually evolves its internship program to make sure interns that are brought in get the most progressive knowledge and experience, as well as leave with a greater understanding of the industry.
