Jennings said that with the increase of smartphone users, mobile applications, SMS and promotions, she felt it was imperative to incorporate SMS and QR codes into the company’s services. “With the success of leveraging monetization with QR codes and text messaging through offers and promotional channels, we are hoping for some quantifiable results. As a company we are looking forward to seeing this new technology as it improves and the usage goes up,” said Jennings.
Jason Heard, general manager of Frank Ancona Honda, has been working with JSMM for over a year and decided to launch both SMS and QR codes for the dealership. “QR codes are very easy to track. There is a company that we have hired that is going to track every text message that goes out and for every QR code scanned. We will know when it was scanned and what part of the city it was scanned in. We will be able to know almost everything, so we will be able to move our money and spend it where it makes the most sense,” said Heard.
For mobile users who choose not to use a smartphone device, JSMM has incorporated the use of text messaging campaigns into their services as well. Aaron Kirby, former development manager of KickaNotch Mobile, explained the benefits of adding SMS services. “Ninety-five percent of all SMS messages are read, and 80 percent are within the first hour. SMS has been proven to be a more effective way to reach a large audience, over other methods like email,” said Kirby.
JSMM is available for consultation regarding how to effectively incorporate SMS and QR codes with social media marketing.
