Q&A with CEO & Entrepreneur Valerie Jennings on Joining the Pet Partners National Board of Directors

Valerie Jennings, CEO of JSMM, has joined the Pet Partner’s national board of directors! Pet Partners is the gold standard leader in demonstrating and promoting animal-assisted therapy, activities and education. In this Q&A Valerie speaks about her love for animals and how she will be helping this awesome charity.

Q.Why did you decide to join the Pet Partners board of directors?

A. I was recruited by another board member who passed my name along to their board’s recruiter. I was so touched after listening to the mission of the organization and how animal therapy impacts our society that I couldn’t say no. Animals have played an important role in shaping my life from childhood to adulthood and now I get to work alongside an amazing organization via digital marketing and fundraising campaigns.

Q.Why do you love animals and what are your pets’ names?

A. My family has always had a love for animals, and while we did not grow up on a farm in Iowa, we had a variety of pets from rabbits, cats, dogs, ducks, turkeys, chickens, goats, chameleons, fish, hamsters and more. There was a time when my sister and I were in grade school that we showed Netherland Dwarf Rabbits. Not too many kids get to have such a cool little hobby, traveling around with their pets and winning prizes. Today I have two pets: Mikimoto, who is a 12-year-old Samoyed and has been with me through thick and thin; and Badger, a five-month-old Shihpoo, which is a Shih-Tzu – Poodle mix.

Q.How are you going to help the Pet Partner organization?

A. Pet Partners needs my help driving online fundraising initiatives and awareness for the organization. I will be applying my best practices that I have learned while running a digital marketing agency, as well as my knowledge in the cause marketing space. JSMM has managed many campaigns, utilizing cause marketing along with mobile fundraising via social media. I will be helping them understand how to amplify their online fundraising and branding strategies and shaping a new online voice via social media marketing.
